In the year 1981, a group of enthusiastic Sathya Sai devotees deliberated on the need to establish a value based model higher education institute for women at Bhubaneswar as the growing capital city with its urbanization had steadily started eroding the moral and ethical values of our great cultural heritage. In that year with the blessings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba the college initially started functioning in the campus of Sri Sathya Sai High School Unit-III.  In the year 1983, the college shifted to its own sprawling, lush green campus on an idyllic setting at the up-coming township of Pokhariput adjacent to Biju Pattanaik International Airport. It is only 20 meters away from the four lane road connecting to Lingaraj Railway Station to khandagiri and surrounded by various public sector banks, Khadi and Village Industries, Coir Board Office, Union Bank Training Center, NCSCDA Rehabilitation centre, DAV publics School, Central School, BPUT office and City bus terminal. Calm and divine atmosphere of the campus is its hallmark. 

This college is one of the leading Non. Govt . aided colleges in Bhubaneswar and is affiliated to the CHSE (Odisha) in Arts and Science in +2 stage and affiliated to Rama Devi Women’s University in Arts and Science at degree level. It is accredited by the NAAC with ‘B’ Grade in the year 2009. The college imparts Honours techning in Economics, English, History, Home Science, Odia, Psychology, Philosophy, Political Science, Sanskrit, Sociology, Botany, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Zoology.
